About Metro Atlanta Chess Partners

Metro Atlanta Chess Partners, Inc. (MACP) is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization founded in 2015.  MACP’s mission is to help bridge the educational gap by using the principles of chess.

MACP provides chess lessons at no cost to underserved youth in low and no-income families and communities.  MACP also offers fee-based chess lessons to individuals, groups, and organizations. We are able to provide our services through the generous financial and in-kind support of donors, grantors, volunteers, and interns.

MACP believes the game of chess is an excellent teaching and learning tool for fostering clarity that helps encourage youth to succeed and play sanctioned tournaments through the United States Chess Federation, which allows children to be recognized on a national platform.

MACP IMPACT

Metro Atlanta Chess Partners, Inc. (MACP) is a strong promoter of community-based  participatory intervention to improve student learning. MACP provides parents with an effective chess program that helps students academically, socially, and behaviorally.

Metro Atlanta Chess Partners, Inc. teaches the game of chess to youth in Atlanta communities in-person and through telecom services. MACP also hosts sanctioned chess tournaments as an affiliate of the U.S. Chess Federation.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Given the current national climate of marginalized groups often facing law enforcement officials and behaving in ways that are disarming to our authorities, and often resulting in injustice on both sides, Metro Atlanta Chess Partners, Inc. has both a timely and needful mission. Chess play is notable for encouraging delayed gratification, and self-respect. Our vision is to inspire the next generation starting with underserved youth in the city of Atlanta, through the game of chess, to gain clarity in decision-making, critical thinking skills, improved social skills, and success in academics.
